for 2001 - 2002 Season
(Covers from 1st September 2001 to 31st August 2002)

Pedestal pitch
Des Ife 10 September 2001 13:07 GMT
There was concern that the council had not cut the grass on our
pitch. The edges had been done on the Friday before the Bank holiday
but the centre had been left. After we contacted them the council
came down last Friday to complete the job and also marked out the
pitches. However, we found that the top pitch was too narrow and
so Pat Vaughey, Des and Pam Ife went down on Sunday afternoon to
extend the markings. Whilst we were there we found that our trap
had caught another edible dormouse (the 9th) and it was in pain
and so Des had to 'dispatch' it.
Comings and Goings at U15s
Des Ife 17 September 2001 10:39 GMT
At the start of this season we have lost the services of three of
our players. They are Paul Yandell, Mitchell Ash and Jerome Warren.
Paul has played for us for many seasons but seems to have lost interest
in the game and Jerome has decided to join another club in a higher
Division. We wish all of them the best of luck for the future. On
a more cheerful note, we would like to welcome David Blackman, Duane
White and David Hill to our team. For the first league game David
Hill was unable to play as we have not yet received his registration
documents back from the league and David Blackman will not be available
for some weeks because of a cartilage problem. I’m sure that they
will all make a significant contribution to our play.
Another departure from U15s
Des Ife 01 October 2001 07:53 GMT
We are sorry to say goodbye to James Moody who has decided to leave
us to spend more time on his school studies for GCSE.
Committee and Management Changes
Des Ife 10 October 2001 10:52 GMT
Last night (9th October) it was announced that Rex Allott is stepping
down as our Club Chairman. He has been with the club for many years
and took over the Chairmanship when Chris Stallwood vacated this
job. Rex had wanted to relinquish this position at the end of last
season but was persuaded to stay on, as we were unable to find anyone
prepared to take over from him. We would like to thank him for all
the work that he has carried out for us in the past and are pleased
that he will continue to be a member of our committee. Thanks Allott
Rex. Tony Hector, our Deputy Chairman and Under 16s manager, will
stand in until a replacement Chairman is appointed/confirmed. Kevin
Fuller has decided to leave the committee and will no longer be
active in the running of the Club. We would like to extend our gratitude
to him for the help and support that he has provided whilst he has
been with us. Dave Tombs, the manager of our current Under 13s side
is unable to continue in this capacity on health grounds and so
we are in urgent need of a manager/coach to take over the running
of this side. The Under 15s team has taken on Norman McCorkell as
coach.
More comings and goings at U15s
Des Ife 15 October 2001 07:33 GMT
We sadly bid farewell to our goalkeeper, Lee Hudson, who has decided
to join Penn & Tylers Green, a First Division side. He and his parents
will be sorely missed but we wish them all the very best for the
future.
A new recruit is Matthew Stone, who will be joining us shortly.
Manager Injured
Des Ife 05 November 2001 13:03 GMT
Pam Ife, when attempting to save a hard shot on goal from our coach
during training of the U15s last Friday, injured her fingers and
wrist when the ball pushed her fingers backwards. After training
she was taken to Wycombe General Hospital just before 11pm where
torn tendons were diagnosed. Her ring was cut off and her wrist
put in a splint and sling. Her fingers are swollen and badly bruised
and she is unable to drive at the moment. She is due to return to
hospital on Friday 9th and hopes that, by then the swelling will
have subsided. She will probably attend training this Friday but
will not be taking part in the session.
More Comings for U15s
Des Ife 08 November 2001 13:27 GMT
We have three more potential players being signed up, 2 having played
for us some seasons ago. More details will follow when the signings
are confirmed. This will bring our squad up to 18 but David Blackman
will not be able to play, through injury, until well into next year.
More Comings for U15s update
Des Ife 12 November 2001 12:19 GMT
Further to my recent news item I am pleased to announce the return
of Asher Jennings and Delroy Robertson. They have been playing for
Holmer Green since leaving us and we welcome their return. The third
arrival is Carl Davis who played for Prestwood Colts before joining
us and we hope that he will enjoy playing for us. They will be able
to play in our game against Marlow Youth (if selected).
New Manager for Under 16s
Des Ife 12 December 2001 12:22 GMT
Following the departure of Tony Hector the Under 16's were temporarily
without a manager. However, I am pleased to announce that Abid Hassan
has taken over the coaching and management of the team. The first
game after his take-over resulted in a draw, which brought to an
end a run of defeats. We wish him every success.
Another Departure from U15s
Des Ife 11 January 2002 21:13 GMT
We are sad to say goodbye to Ruari Kerr who has decided to leave
our club. We all wish him the very best of luck for the future.
More Departures from U15s
Des Ife 21 January 2002 12:29 GMT
We have said goodbye (or should I say - would have done so, if they
ever bothered to turn up) to Asher Jennings, Delroy Robertson and
Carl Davis. Our squad now consists of 15 players, one of whom (David
Blackman) has not yet played for us since joining at the start of
this season owing to a serious knee injury. We still hope that he
will be able to play for us sometime in the near future.
One of the best players we never had
Des Ife 03 March 2002 19:18 GMT
Unfortunately, David Blackman who signed up for us at the end of
the 2000/2001 season has had to leave us without ever having played
an 11-a-side game. His sole appearance for us was in the Princes
Risborough 6-a-side tournament in 2001 where he showed leadership
and good footballing skills, which would have helped our defence
enormously. Because of his involvement in many other sports, including
rugby and judo, he has suffered from a knee injury and that has
kept him out of all contact sports for the past season. His doctors
have now allowed him to take up just one non-contact sport for the
next year and he has chosen swimming. We are very sorry to lose
him but appreciate that he must not indulge in anything that could
cause permanent injury. Good luck for the future, David.
Another departure from U15s
Des Ife 23 April 2002 12:27 GMT
We are sad to report the departure of Richard Sunderland who has
been with us for some years. He usually played in defence but had
scored 2 goals for us this season when coming on as a sub. We wish
him good luck for the future.
The edible dormice are back!
Des Ife 12 August 2002 08:45 GMT
At the weekend Pam and I went down to our clubhouse and found that
the edible dormice (Glis Glis) are back again. I saw one
sitting on the electricity meter and it just sat there for about
20 seconds before it noticed me and scuttled behind the wall. For
information about them see our News entry 'New residents in Clubhouse'
in August 2001. Further information will follow.
