Beaconsfield
friendly (14/08/2005)
2005 - 2006 Season, Hithercroft Youth
Our season starts off with a series of three friendly matches that
Brian has arranged, all being against strong opponents from higher
divisions. The weather was overcast and cloudy with a gusty wind and
there was drizzle at various points in the game. The referee was Mr
Paul O'Hare and for Hithercroft the line was run by Pam Ife in the
first half and Pat Vaughey in the second.
The game began at 1.15pm and after five minutes Beaconsfield took
the lead when their No.11 received the ball, turned and hit it into
the far left-hand corner of the net. A short while later the Beaconsfield
No.11 again collected the ball on the edge of the 18-yard box and
hit a powerful shot that keeper Matt Hedges tipped over the crossbar.
At 1.48pm Matt again pulled off a fine block when their No.17 burst
through the defence and Matt spread himself to push the shot clear.
However, just a few seconds later the Beaconsfield No.11 ran in on
the right-hand post as the ball came across and he slipped the ball
into the net for a 2-goal lead. A fine drizzle began to fall and our
visitors came close to increasing their lead when the No.11 took a
shot that hit the right-hand upright. At the end of the half Beaconsfield
had a 2-0 lead.
The game resumed at 2.08pm and after 18 minutes of play Beaconsfield
added a third goal via a deflection and after a further 3 minutes
scored their fourth, slipping the ball past Matt as he came out. After
a four minute respite Beaconsfield's No.12 added a fifth goal before
the drizzle began once again. Hithercroft came close to getting on
the score-sheet when Paul Morgan's shot was pushed out of play by
the diving keeper. At 2.53pm the referee brought the game to a halt,
Hithercroft having lost their opening game of the season 5-0 to a
very good Beaconsfield side. |
