Bedgrove
Dynamos (18/01/2004)
2003 - 2004 Season, Hithercroft Under 16s
The
weather was very cold but calm and dry for this game against the
current Division leaders. Sam was on the subs bench for the visitors.
Unfortunately I arrived 35 minutes after the game had started and
so I missed the opening goal of the match that had been scored by
Bedgrove. Hithercroft had been performing well and they continued
to hold their opponents to just this one goal when the whistle went
to end the half.
The second half began at 11.30am and, shortly into the half, Tyrone
sustained a back injury that troubled him for the remainder of the
game. Hithercroft were by no means over-awed by the opposition and
had numerous chances to level the score. After 15 minutes Bedgrove,
following a sustained attack, eventually hit the Hithercroft crossbar
with a well-struck shot and were rewarded 3 minutes later with a
goal when their No. 8 took a superb shot from about 25 yards out
and it ended up in the left hand corner of the net. At 11.59am Bedgrove
scored their 3rd goal and were beginning to dominate play. Thirty
minutes into the half the home team added a 4th goal to their tally
and the game concluded with a 4-0 win to Bedgrove Dynamos.
Bedgrove had taken some time to settle into the game and Hithercroft
had provided excellent opposition but eventually the superior passing
and player positioning had paid off for the home team. I feel that
a 2-1 scoreline would have been a better reflection of how this
game had gone.
