Elmhurst
FC (09/12/2001)
2001 - 2002 Season, Hithercroft Under 15s
We
were rather late in arriving at the Elmhurst ground and so the game
kicked off half-an-hour late at 2.30pm. The weather was cold but
sunny and the pitch was rather muddy and slippery.
After seven minutes of play Elmhurst’s No 7 opened the scoring
with a shot over our goalie’s head and by half-time they had
added another 2 goals to lead 3-0. They had outplayed the visitors
both up front and in defence, maintaining formation and inter-passing
well.
Within a minute of the restart Elmhurst scored again and added another
8 goals to their tally before the final whistle. Hithercroft had
been totally unable to respond and were well-beaten by the better
team on the day, ending up 12-0 down.
Unfortunately (or perhaps not) my dictaphone stopped recording after
the first goal and I failed to notice the problem until I got home.
As a result, the details of the Elmhurst scorers and my comments
during the game got lost. I understand that Elmhurst have taken
on some new players and their performance indicates that they should
now start to enjoy more favourable results. We, on the other hand,
need to improve a great deal on our performances over the last 2
weeks. Pam has now decided to resume her recently-vacated roles
in training and team selection in an attempt to rectify our discrepancies.
Hithercroft’s MoM: David Hill (Again, Duane White and Kevin
Ife deserve a mention for their effort)
