Princes Risborough Six-a-Side Tournament (02/07/2001)
2000 - 2001 Season, Hithercroft Under 14s

The weather began sunny but cool for this tournament. The Hithercroft squad was Jason Guy, Dewayne Dublin, Paul Yandell, Kevin Ife, Richard Sunderland, David Blackman, Shahid Ahmed and Lee Hudson. Mitchell Ash came along to give support together with Matt Seaton from Wycombe Lions. There were 15 teams in our age group organised into three leagues of five teams.

Our first game was to be against Elmhurst who arrived just as we were about to kick-off and claim the point. The results in our league were as follows:- Bedgrove Colts B 0 Stokenchurch 1, Elmhurst 0 Hithercroft 0, Risborough Colts A 0 Bedgrove Colts B 0, Stokenchurch 2 Elmhurst 0, Hithercroft 0 Risborough Colts A 0, Bedgrove Colts B 0 Elmhurst 1, Risborough Colts A 0 Stokenchurch 1, Bedgrove Colts B 0 Hithercroft 1, Elmhurst 0 Risborough Colts A 0, Hithercroft 0 Stokenchurch 1 (Our goal against Bedgrove came when Richard took the ball from our end, down the wing to the goal-line and then crossed the ball for Shahid to put it into the net past the keeper.) Stokenchurch won our league (12 pts) with us being runners-up (5 pts).

Waltham Court Juniors A won the 2nd league with Marlow Youth A being runners-up.

Aylesbury Saints won the 3rd league with Waltham Court Juniors B being runners-up.

For the Quarter Final we played Penn & Tylers Green and during this game the rain came. From a long throw-in from David, Jason headed the ball into the net for the opening goal after 2 minutes but three minutes later Penn equalised. Then Kevin and Dewayne inter-passed with Dewayne putting us back into the lead. Just before the final whistle Penn scored from a penalty, awarded after a Penn player was pushed in the back. We then went into a period of extra-time with a ‘golden goal’ to decide the winner and unfortunately our opponents scored it.

Our last Six-a-side will be at our own ground on Saturday 14th July when we have 2 teams competing.
