Risborough Colts (14/01/2001)
2000 - 2001 Season, Hithercroft Under 14s

Owing to a hard frost on our pitch it was decided that we should use the bottom pitch which is slightly smaller than our usual one. The start was delayed until 10.40am.

Within a minute of the kick-off Jason Guy had scored for Hithercroft and after another minute Jerome Warren crossed the ball for Jason to score again. After 10 minutes Jerome took the ball around a couple of Risborough players and fired it into the net for Hithercroft's third. However, Rupert Tallboys replied with a goal for the visitors and then scored again after his shot was parried by Philip Lines and rebounded to him. At the half-time whistle the score was 3-2.

Just after the restart Ben Moore equalised and then Rupert scored again to put Risborough into the lead for the first time in the match. Then Jason hit a shot which was slightly deflected as it went through a defender's legs and into the visitor's net for 4-all. Ten minutes later John Odro put Risborough back into the lead and Jason again got an equaliser. Risborough again re-took the lead through James Messenger and two minutes later, from a long throw-in Rupert stretched the lead to 7-5. Jerome then did a lot of hard work before crossing to Jason who pulled one goal back. Then Adeel Iqbal hit a great lob over the defence and Jason ran onto it but collided with the Risborough goalie as he came out. Dewayne Dublin then put the ball into Risborough's net but was ruled off-side. A few minutes later the opposition's linesman again flagged for off-side as Jerome's shot went in but the referee allowed the goal, bringing Hithercroft level again. Then Shahid Ahmed sent a great ball to Jason who went round the goalkeeper to score the final and deciding goal for Hithercroft, the final result being 8-7.

This had been an exciting game to watch with both sides trying very hard and being spurred on as they fell behind each time.
