Marlow
Youth - Friendly (08/10/2000)
2000 - 2001 Season, Hithercroft Under 14s
In
the first half of this friendly Hithercroft had most of the game.
Jason played extremely well in defence, harassing or dispossessing
the opposition. Lee Hudson worked well in goal, coming out often
to claim the ball from the attackers when they broke through. In
spite of this, Duncan Bye managed to score for Marlow Youth and
their No. 5 also managed to find the net before half time, making
the score 2-0 at the break.
Shortly into the second half, Jerome Warren fired a shot which the
Marlow goalkeeper parried, Jack Fuller followed in and the ball
again ricocheted off the goalie before Kevin Ife hit the ball into
the net. However, after this Marlow began to dominate play, making
Lee Hudson in the Hithercroft goal pull off some fine saves. However,
persistence paid off, and Duncan Bye scored two more goals making
the final score 4-1 to Marlow.
Adeel Iqbal has begun to regain his form and Ruari Kerr, Jason Guy
and Jack Fuller were non-stop in their tackling. Lee’s dad,
Rocky, ran the line and wanted to be considered for 'Linesman of
the Year' but qualified as 'Comedian of the Match' with such remarks
as ‘...that really set the posts on fire’ following
a soft shot from Hithercroft that just made it to the upright.
