Chesham
Rangers (18/03/2001)
2000 - 2001 Season, Hithercroft Under 14s
The
weather was cloudy but dry and the pitch was sticky for this game.
Rex Allott was the referee and Rocky Hudson ran the line again.
Hithercroft were without their captain, Jason Guy (who is still
recovering from his injury at Missenden) and had no substitutes
available. Lee Hudson was captain for this game.
Chesham began the game strongly with one shot over the bar and another
shot that Adeel Iqbal hooked away from the goal-line. Seven minutes
after the start Chesham’s number 9, Jamie Reynolds, opened
the scoring and then after a further nine minutes Aron Yeardie added
a second with a fierce shot into the top of the net. Both sides
then had chances but were unable to make them count until, just
before half-time, Paul Yandell crossed the ball from the wing for
Phillip Lines to hit into the Chesham net, bringing the score back
to 2-1.
The pattern for the second half was similar to the first with Chesham
starting off strongly but Hithercroft coming back into the game
later in the half. Both sides missed chances before Jerome Warren
took the ball down the wing and crossed it to Paul Yandell, who
then scored the equaliser with a hard shot from outside the penalty
area. This turned out to be the final score, both sides taking a
point each.
The ‘Man of the Match’ for Hithercroft went to all the
back four - Richard Sunderland, Kevin Ife, Adeel Iqbal and Shahid
Ahmad.
(The Hithercroft linesman played a ‘blinder’ this week
but hopes to get some spectacles soon! - Just my little joke).
