2000 - 2001 Season, Hithercroft Under 14s



This game was originally scheduled for 5th November and was re-arranged for 8th April. However, as we had no game this week and Belgrave’s opponents were unable to play, our postponed game was played today. The pitch was very muddy and the weather was very cold and foggy.

The game kicked off at 11.22am and Belgrave had numerous shots at goal, mainly by Lee Humphreys, before Jerome Warren took the ball round several defenders and then put the ball into the net for Hithercroft’s first goal, coming after 23 minutes of play. Ten minutes later Dewayne Dublin took the ball through to score Hithercroft’s second. The half-time score-line being 2-0.

Following a Belgrave attack, five minutes after the restart, the ball came off the upright and across the goalmouth for Richard Charlton to hit it into the net to open Belgrave’s scoring. Then Belgrave’s Number 10 had a shot which Lee pushed out, only for Lee Humphreys to hit the ball back into the net, bringing the scores level. After a couple of Hithercroft forays into the Belgrave half Lee Humphreys added to Belgrave’s tally by lobbing Lee Hudson and Craig Stone later added another. Immediately after this Jerome passed to Jason Guy who ran through the opposition and smashed the ball into the net to bring Hithercroft back to 3-4. From the kick-off Philip Lines gathered the ball and passed through to Dewayne who scored the equaliser. Lee Hudson dived to deflect a shot from Craig Stone, only for the Chris Deeming to tap it into the open net. Then, from a corner, Richard Charlton headed the ball past Lee to make the final score 6-4 to Belgrave.
